Domestic Kitchen

Workable

Oregon's Domestic Kitchen License (Oregon Dept. of Agriculture) is a licensed home-kitchen tier above the cottage-food exemption and the Farm Direct law: with a license and inspection it allows a broader range of products (including some that the exemption prohibits) made in a home kitchen, with wider sales channels. (Oregon also has cottage-food and Farm Direct pathways — see those verticals.)

Farm Direct

Workable

Oregon's Farm Direct Marketing Law is the nation's clearest distinct farm-direct exemption: farmers who grow the principal ingredients may sell producer-processed value-added products direct to consumers with no license, up to a $50,000/yr processed-value cap. Covers jams, syrups, high-acid/acidified foods (pickles, salsas, hot sauces with pH ≤ 4.6), and lacto-fermented foods; 2023 added maple/walnut syrup, juices, and dried-herb/tea blends. Some standardized ingredients (vinegar, pectin, citrus juice, honey, sugar, salt) may be purchased.
